Get Involved

Why Should I Get Involved?

The reason you should get involved with the ministry of your church body is because the Bible informs us that God has created us for good works (Ephesians 2:10), in order to use our lives to make a difference in this world for Him by ministering to others (Matthew 25:14-30), especially other Christians (Galatians 6:9-10; 1 Peter 4:10).

When we become Christians we are called to commit our lives to 3 primary purposes.

Purpose #1

The most important of these purposes is to grow in our love for God (Matthew 22:37), and our knowledge of Him through the Bible, so that we would be able to “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:9-10).

Purpose #2

The second greatest purpose we are to commit ourselves to is growing in our love for one another as Christians. Jesus tells us that there is no such thing as “Lone Ranger” Christians. He said the way that all people will know that we are His followers is by our love for one another (John 13:34-35). In fact, the Bible says that it is our love for one another that validates we love God (1 John 4:11).

Purpose #3

The third greatest purpose that God has given to us as Christians is to reach the lost with the gospel. This was the Great Commission that Jesus left us with. We are to purposefully interact with those who are outside of Christ, with the intention of leading them into a saving knowledge of the Lord, and then helping them grow in the faith by discipling them (Matthew 28:18-20).
